But his delight is in the law of the Lord, And in His law he meditates day and night.
Psalm 1:2 (NKJV)
CHURCH IS A GREAT GIFT OF GOD TO HUMANITY
By – Pastor Alias Jacob
The church is a great gift from God to humanity. Church is one big family of God (1 Pet 3:8) that had the most profound impact on humanity. Church is a spiritual house of living precious stones (1 Pet 2:4-5): “Coming to Him as to a living stone, rejected indeed by men, but chosen by God and precious, you also, as living stones, are being built up a spiritual house, a holy priesthood, to offer up spiritual sacrifices acceptable to God through Jesus Christ.”
You are part of a family; you are part of the body of Christ (Romans 12:4-5). Each member belongs to all the others also. When you join a church, all of a sudden, you are a part of the body. Your talents, your presence, your burdens, and your blessings all become a part of the church.
Church is the body of Christ. What Church is not: it’s not a business, not an organization. This was Jesus’ favorite description of the church. He called it “My little flock.” Therefore, the church is cared for and led by shepherds. Shepherds lead, feed, and take care of the sheep. John 21:15 says, “Jesus asked Simon Peter, ‘Do you really love me?’ ‘Yes, Lord,’ said Peter. ‘Then take care of My sheep.'” “Take care” means, that’s the Greek word for “pastor.”
He said to them, “It is written, ‘My house shall be called a house of prayer’” (Matt 21:13). Church is also a house of Prayer. We come to connect with God and lay our petitions and supplications at His feet. From there, the Lord intervenes and answers all our prayers.
The church teaches us to be selfless as we are all one body of Christ Jesus for whom He died. Jesus said, “Love one another as I have loved you,” a greatest commandment (John 13:34) to follow. Church operates from this love that is given to us by Christ. Jesus died for the church, and He is coming back for the glorious church.
Church is a body that builds, develops, uplifts, and supports. The work of the church is noted everywhere. The power of the Gospel is wherever the good news reaches. There everything should be made new and good, there is progress and covenantal blessings abound.
Many great organizations to help women and orphanages, old age homes, and charity hospitals were established by the churches. Many great missionaries, when they traveled to countries like the African continent and Asia, shared the gospel and then worked tirelessly to build places such as hospitals, schools, and orphanages to help the communities around them.
Till today, the church operates in the same way. The mission workers take the love of Jesus to the unreached villages and remote communities, and then they support the people by digging wells, helping in farming, etc.
Church is a family of God. It’s a hospital for the sick, it’s a retreat for the hopeless. It becomes what your need is, simply because it is your Father’s house of God, and there is everlasting love and answers to all your prayers in Jesus’s name. The power of His love makes all things work together for your good (Romans 8:28): “And we know that all things work together for good to those who love God, to those who are the called according to His purpose.”
